Idea: Driver of Wealth Creation

What is an idea? Idea in the context of wealth creation is simply a concept, a thought generated intentionally or unintentionally in the mind for the purpose of creating an awareness, understanding or activity.

”All achievements, all earned riches, have their beginning in an idea” – Napoleon Hill. Swami Vivekananda puts it this way “take up one idea. Make it your life, think of it, dream of it, and live on that idea. Let the brain, muscles, nerves, every part of your body be filled of that idea, and just leave every other idea. This is the way to success”

Words can never be exhausted in trying to explain the power of an idea. An idea is the seed of success, an idea is the root of success, an idea is the tree of success, and an idea is success.

The starting point of wealth creation is idea. An idea is what you will work upon to create wealth. An idea of the person you are, and the person you want to be. You have to discover yourself – who are you and who do you want to be? An idea of where you are going to, an idea of what you want in life and what you want to give in return. An idea of how to get what you want. Idea indeed rules the world. You will get everything you need if you are a problem solver. People are looking for who will solve their problems and solve it even faster and more efficiently, find a solution to those problems and money will be knocking on your door.

Human mind is the greatest masterpiece of creation, within it lays the power to create and to destroy. The mind is a bundle of mysteries that defies human explanation. Impossibility does not exist in the realm of the mind; those that have mastered their minds are those that win. Napoleon Hill captured it perfectly well when he said “there is no height and no depth the human mind cannot attain, they conquer who believe they can”

To be successful, you must be original; originality is the sincerity of idea. If you are sincere in your ideas, you are half way to success. “Originality is the essence of true scholarship. Creativity is the soul of true scholar” Nnamdi Azikiwe. Being original in idea doesn’t only consist in having an entirely novel idea; it can also mean modifying the existing ideas, bringing out better ways of doing things or improving on new visions. All over the world, people who pay for goods and services always look for better goods, people who can deliver services faster and more efficiently. They don’t care where you come from or who you are as far as you can deliver better than the other. Originality of idea means going beyond the accepted norm in order to create something unique. “The merit of originality is not novelty; it is sincerity” – Thomas Carlyle

There is something for everyone, there are areas of life we strive better, there are things we do better. That is where our strength is and that is where we should try to improve on with as much originality as we can. In this world, one thing you should definitely strive for is originality. Just be who you are, and be your own person. That is what will make you stand out Nolan Gould advised. The economy is in a constant evolutionary changes, and with each change, comes a lot of opportunities for wealth creation, tap into those opportunities without letting it pass you.

How to Develop an Idea for Wealth Creation

Always be yourself, express yourself, have faith in yourself, do not go out and look for a successful person to duplicate

Bruce Lee

You may be asking “but how do I get the idea?” Ask yourself these simple questions “if I want to be famous, what will I be famous for? How will I be remembered? Development of an idea is not as easy as you may think. It involves much more than just a wishful thinking. You engage your mind in a conscious creative imagination. Sometimes it may start as a talent or persistent desire for a particular activity, follow it up to make it a powerful tool for wealth creation. The below steps will guide you on how to turn that talent and desire into an idea that will liberate you financially.

Clear purpose

Having a clear purpose is like having a mission statement. You must decide upon yourself what it is that you want? It requires that you think deeply about your purpose on earth, what do you want to achieve? What legacy are you leaving behind? How do you want to be remembered? Again strive to be a man of value, for in adding value to life that true wealth comes. There is something for everyone, look around you and find the most prevalent problem people encounter and find a way to solve it for them.

Purpose is the reason for which something exists or is done, made or used. It is an intended or desired result; end; aim or goal. It is determination and resoluteness. Look around you, there are countless of needs of people you should find a solution to, who says ideas have been exhausted? Better ideas are yet to come. The world may be waiting for you to devise a means of solving some of the plaguing problems facing mankind today.

Clear purpose is the single most important determinant factor in acquiring riches, according to Seneca “An archer must first know what he is seeking to hit, then he must aim and control the weapon by his skills”. No wind favors the ship that has no direction or destination. A life without purpose is like a ship without compass; it drifts wherever the wind blows it.

As you think, write down any idea that comes to mind, after getting a clear purpose of your goal in life; turn the purpose into a burning desire.

Desire

Desire is an emotional force, a craving for the achievement of a goal. In order to achieve success, one of the great tools you must possess is a burning desire. Without having enough desire to pursue your goal, you can never get there. It is like having a beautiful and expensive car, but without the fuel to power it.

“The will to win, the desire to succeed, the urge to reach your full potential, these are the keys that will unlock the door to personal excellence” – Confucius.

How to turn a desire into a burning desire that can push you to your destiny!

You are what you consistently think about. “Be careful what you set your heart upon, for it shall surely be yours” – Ralph Waldo Emerson.

The above statement from Emerson was made with an assuring certainty. It recognizes the power of the mind to create and to destroy your world; you should therefore focus your mind on your goals. Remember it says “for it SHALL surely be yours” not “it MAY surely be yours”. It is certain that what you think is what you are, by feeding your mind consistently with your dreams, you are adding fuel to your mind and your mind will never rest until it starts boiling and the only way to quench it, is to get to work in fulfilling your dream.

How to feed your mind.

You must make a conscious and concerted effort to constantly and consistently be reminding yourself of your goals.

  1. Get a sheet of paper or any writing pad, write down your dreams and aspirations in one part and what you don’t want to be in another part of the same sheet, place it in your most accessible places – on your mirror, bedpost, office desk etc. Don’t fall the victim of the slogan ‘out of sight, out of mind” for instance you can say “I want to be a great scientist my country will be proud of” – that is your dream, and again you can say “I don’t want my children to suffer in life” or you can say “I don’t want to beg for food in my young and old age”. Write down these two opposite dreams, the later one will constantly be reminding you of the price you must pay if you fail to achieve your first dream.
  2. Set a daily reminder, to be reminding yourself of your dream and to once again read out to your hearing, the written dreams and aspirations.
  3. Surround yourself with positive people. This is very important, because your friends can make or break you.
  4. Read, read and read motivational and soul uplifting books, histories of successful people and as you read, jot down some salient points in their histories. This has a very unique way of shaking you up to the real world.

Take cognizance of your skills

Know your limits, and then ignore them. Those that truly conquer are those that believe they can. Knowing your strengths and limits will only aid you to focus your energy more on your strengths while you work to improve on areas where you need improvement. A warrior is someone who recognizes his God-given talents, works his tail off to develop them into skills, and uses these skills to accomplish his goals” – Larry Bird

As you are developing your idea into success, remember always to put the needed skills into perspective. This will prove very vital in fashioning your thoughts.

Leave your comfort zone

It is a well known fact that people hardly succeed when they are too comfortable. Necessity is the mother of invention, because early inventors like Alessandro Volta, Humphrey Davy, Warren de la Rue, Joseph Swan and Thomas Edison were not too comfortable with the oil lamp, they had to think outside the box to develop what we enjoy today as the electric light bulb. Most of the inventions and discoveries around the world were done by people who had one need or the other to fulfill. People who want to succeed often leave their comfort zone to settle in another unfamiliar place. If you leave your familiar zone to another place, your mindset will change, you will know that, yes you must succeed or else you will die of hunger or become worthless. You will be forced to think outside the box, you will spot opportunities that otherwise you wouldn’t have spotted in your comfort zone. Necessity can condemn one to success. Comfortability breeds complacency.

In summary, “Desire is the key to motivation, but it is determination and commitment to an unrelenting pursuit of your goal – a commitment to excellence that will enable you to attain the success you seek” – Mario Andretti

Therefore, if you have an idea, a burning desire, believe in yourself and in your course, determined and dedicated, and never give up, you will succeed. The price of success may seem high, but the rewards far outweigh the price.

Until you are committed, there is hesitancy, a chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness. But the moment you definitely commit yourself to a course, then providence moves in, and when God moves, a whole stream of events begin to unfold one after another, all manner of unforeseen incidents, meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamed would have come his ways, begin to move towards you
